4 Photo-Organizing Myths that Keep You Stuck (and what to do instead)

Hi Reader,

I can’t believe the myths I used to believe about photo organizing. 😅 Let’s bust the big ones so you can finally make progress and enjoy your memories again.

You might have heard these from friends, seen them online, or—be honest—told them to yourself. They’re just stories that keep you stuck.

Have you believed any of these?

Myth #1: “If I feel overwhelmed, I must be doing it wrong.”
Reality: There isn’t just one right way. The overwhelm usually comes from not knowing the difference between sorting and organizing (they’re not the same!) and understanding the terminology. Once you learn the basics, the fog lifts, the AHA moments come fast, and you can adjust as you go. Also, many decisions aren’t set in cement and can be changed later.

Myth #2: “I’m not tech-savvy enough for digital photos.”
Reality: You don’t need to be a computer whiz. Simple steps—renaming all files in a folder at once, keeping everything in one organized hub, naming folders so they stay in order—are totally doable. When I show these to clients, they’re shocked at how simple it is. Bonus: learning just enough tech makes sharing with kids and grandkids easy. 📱💬

Myth #3: “My mess is worse than everyone else’s.”
Reality: Everyone thinks that. Truly. I’ve seen 2,000-photo collections and 200,000-photo collections; grocery bags, under-bed boxes, ten devices, you name it. You’re not uniquely hopeless—you’re human with a lifetime of memories. We can tame it.

Myth #4: “I need a giant space to spread everything out.”
Reality: Nope. It's nice if you have that, but not necessary (I don't have a giant space myself.) Smart organizing happens in small, manageable chunks. You can work in sessions, tidy up between, and still make steady progress. The key is having a system, not a mansion.

If one of these has been holding you back, let’s change that today. My Black Friday sale gives you step-by-step guidance, expert support, proven systems, and community encouragement—at the lowest prices I offer all year.

Hi Reader, Picture this: it’s 6 AM on a Sunday, and I’m finally walking through my front door after an all‑night scrapbooking crop. I was exhausted but proud—I’d finished an entire album and started another. I'd only recently started scrapbooking, and I was really proud of my progress. But as I collapsed into bed, all I could think about was what happened around 3 AM. I was flipping through photos for that second album when I found them—random picture after picture that belonged in the first...

Hi Reader, Every year I choose a word to guide the year ahead. Sometimes it shows up in October, sometimes in December. This year…NOT AT ALL 😅. Between medical appointments and website gremlins, it’s been a lot. I’ll spend the next couple of weeks listening for the right word. My word for 2025 was PROGRESS. I set big-picture goals in my personal life and my business. Personally, I made progress on 3 of 4 goals (including finishing the first draft of my novel 🎉). Business-wise, much less...

Hi Reader, I promised myself I’d steer clear of controversial topics this holiday season… and yet here we are. 😅 *Deep breath* How do we feel about eggnog? 🤔 Strong opinions are flying, and I want to hear yours. I’m Team Eggnog — but with conditions! Here’s why: Every December my mother made eggnog from scratch, and it was sooooo good. The first time I tried store‑bought eggnog I almost spit it out — too sweet, artificial flavors… nothing to love as far as I was concerned. I still make it...
