Can we turn this into a magnet?

Hi Reader,

Rhonda sent me a photo last week with one line above it: "Can we turn this into a magnet?"

No plan, no big project. Just a photo and a question.

Around the same time, Terri wrote in her Academy accountability email that she'd decided on some Christmas photo gifts and started setting up filing folders to track down the photos she'd need. She said giving herself permission to sort with that one purpose in mind gave her a burst of energy she hadn't felt in a while.

Two members, same week, landing on the same idea without knowing the other one had it too.

I don't think that's a coincidence. It's the calendar talking.

September is when this thought quietly shows up for a lot of us, even before we've said it out loud. The stores haven't put out the decorations yet (or maybe they have - yikes!), but something in the back of your mind has already started doing gift math.

Here's the thing: once that thought shows up, you've got a choice. You can let it float around unattended until it turns into a December scramble, or you can catch it now while there's no pressure attached at all.

Rhonda and Terri both caught it. Rhonda pointed to one photo and asked a simple question. Terri gave herself permission to redirect her sorting toward one goal. Neither one tried to solve her whole collection in a weekend. She just grabbed the one small piece she needed.

You don't need a big plan to start. You just need one photo and enough know-how to turn it into something they'll keep.

Warmly,
Fancy

P.S. If you want that know-how, it's the whole reason I built Photo Gifts 101 — a real how-to for turning the photos you already have into gifts people actually keep, print or digital, no tech skills required. Learn More and grab it here. (Academy members, this one's already yours — no need to buy it. Just grab the login info from the Member Access Doc listed at the bottom of every Weekly Academy Email.)

Hi Reader, Last week’s email was all about mystery photos and the names that slip away when nobody writes them down. This week, I want to make the writing-down part easy. 📝 If you’ve ever held a photo in one hand and a pen in the other, wondering whether you were about to ruin it, this one’s for you. Plenty of us grew up labeling photos with whatever was in the junk drawer. Ballpoint pens, felt-tip pens and sticky notes all made their way onto the backs of family snapshots, and I won’t tell...

Hi Reader, Somewhere in your collection, there's probably a photo of someone nobody can name. Maybe it's a young woman in a cloche hat standing next to your grandmother, or a row of cousins squinting into the sun at a picnic. You've likely flipped past it a dozen times, meaning to ask about it someday. October is Family History Month, which makes this a good week to pull that photo back out. 📸 For a lot of us, those chances showed up quietly, years ago. An aunt mentioned over Thanksgiving...

Hi Reader, Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days start this coming Tuesday, October 6th, and run through Wednesday the 7th. Some early deals are already showing up, so you've probably seen a scanner or hard drive flash across your screen at a price that made you pause. Before you hit that button, there's one question I'd love for you to ask yourself. It only takes a minute, and it can keep a great deal from turning into a drawer full of regret. Here it is: what job do I need this to do in my...
